It is shocking how the ANC goes about manipulating the less fortunate within our community.
As an Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) member, I was approached by a fellow Comrade informing me how she was misled into taking ANC membership just to have her home repaired after the December 2012 hailstorm.
My Comrade was approached by a supposed ANC Ward Committee member from Meena Place during the time when hailstorm surveys were being completed.
She was made to sign an ANC membership application form instead of the much-needed survey form.
She was then required to submit ID-sized photos and R40, although both husband and wife are unemployed.
This incident was reported to one of our IFP councillors who, in turn, reported the matter to council.
In an interview with the Ward Committee member, said Ward Committee member informed our councillor in the presence of the community that the contractors repairing the storm damaged homes are using inferior quality materials and the workmanship is of poor quality. These comments concerning the material and workmanship were made as her home was the first home to be repaired in the area, and to date it is still leaking. The IFP calls upon Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality to investigate these allegations and should they be proven true, we demand that appropriate action be taken against those in question.
