Ward Councillor refuses to communicate with anonymous residents

Following an article regarding the issues faced by residents in Paradise, Ward 4 councillor, Tanya de Jager, has responded:

Madam – I am not prepared to communicate with anonymous, nameless or faceless people.

The only effective way of communication is on a one to one basis where we look each other in the eye and jointly address the numerous challenges in our ward, especially in Paradise.

Whenever I get a complaint, I record it and bring it to the attention of the relevant departments, either personally, telephonically, by e-mail and per sms. The matter of the potholes has been brought to the attention of the relevant department on numerous occasions and I have urged them to address the problem.

The past year in 2013 I have successfully sorted out 61 complaints. I want to commend the officials from council for always listening to the complaints and they bend over backwards to accommodate me within the constraints of the budget.

Taking hands is always more productive than slinging mud.
