Endumeni ‘an embarrassment’

The municipality has become an embarrassment to our beloved town.

Sir,

The interview with Municipal Manager (or is he?) Biyela (Courier, January 24) created more questions than answers.

He still does not clearly state who the municipal manager at Endumeni Municipality actually is.

It is unbelievable that Council has allowed a situation to continue where we are paying for two municipal managers, who both earn well. But as they say: it is amazing what Council can do with other people’s money. Ratepayers’ money.

While Mr Biyela bravely talks up ‘service delivery’, it is a fact that the municipality has become an embarrassment to our beloved town.

There is now open talk of irate residents paying service charges into a separate account, and a bid made to set up a parrallel structure.

The rudderless ship that is Endumeni appears to be driven by motives that can only be called questionable.

The MEC – if she has any gumption (and a blue light) – should follow the Brits’ example and start pulling the rotten teeth.

Furthermore, residents should simply demand accountability, and the Public Protector should be called in to investigate the number of political appointments that have been made, and will be made, in the coming weeks.
