As members of the community of Estcourt, we have taken the initiative to engage in issues concerning the town.
As citizens of Estcourt we hold the right to address the issue of services and development in our town.
It is not fruitful to sit in your homes and complain about something that you have the power to change.
Quote from Nelson Mandela: “If the ANC does to you what the apartheid government did to you, then you must do to the ANC what you did to the apartheid government” – July 1993.
So we are appealing to you as citizens of Estcourt to come forth and engage in those issues concerning our local municipality.
Mandela also said: “It is not the kings and generals that make history but the masses of people, the workers, the peasants, the doctors, the clergy.”
We seek leaders to be wise.
Who can avoid the exclusive counsel of untried leaders, who have born little fruit?
We seek leaders to be faithful to the laws and policies the government has set in place.
Leaders that do not live a pattern of life that contradicts their role as members of government.
What you say may not always be popular as a leader but it must measure up to the standard of work you need to portray.
We seek leaders that do not allow the threat of reduced income to cause them to live a life of misconduct.
“A good leader can engage in a debate frankly and thoroughly, knowing that at the end he and the other side must be closer and thus emerge stronger. You don’t have that idea when you are arrogant, superficial and uninformed.”
Together, let us take a stand and report any irregularities that you as a citizen come across.
