Congratulations to our newly elected ward Four Councillor Ugan Chetty.
Your comments in the local media last week indicate that you are for service delivery and for the people, and have practical measures to speed up delivery.
Mr Chetty, remember while you stood as a candidate under the ANC banner, voters at large ignored party politics and voted for you as you had made your mark in certain areas of community involvement.
Singing the praises of the ANC like building of the rank, Shoprite complex and the prison are the works of outside agencies, I fail to understand how these developments may be regarded as service delivery projects.
You are the one who will involve the community in a consultative capacity.
How about candidates who stood but were not successful join hands with our new councillor if they are really concerned with upliftment of our community?
Our councillor needs to remind the higher authorities that certain improvements started before March 26 and should not stop after May 7.
A final word: our councillor has been nominated by the ratepayers – prove yourself and come 2016 there will be no need to canvas as your track record will return you to your position – also do not become a puppet of the Mayor.
Good luck, all the best!
Mr Observant
