Bulldogs rugby very much alive

Editor – The talk of the town at the moment is politics and also Bulldogs rugby. Politics is alive and so is the Bulldogs Rugby Club.

The story going around is that the Bulldogs Rugby Club has closed down.

As chairman of the club, I want to confirm that the Bulldogs Rugby Club is still in full operation and will play their first league game on May 24.

What the club does need is more players, and the full support of the town.

Because of the number of players available this year, we had to move down to the second division.

A club needs to field two sides with reserves, and that means we need 37 players to enter into the first division. Playing in the second division, we must field 23 players. At the moment, we have 28 registered players.

Sentraal went down to the second division last season and won the KZN second division. They also had a problem with the number of players at the beginning of the season and managed to build the club back to two teams by the end of the season.

We need every possible player to come to practice to help us make this work. We really do have a strong committee, and together we can make it work.

So, THE LADYSMITH RUGBY CLUB WILL NOT CLOSE DOWN!
