Does a CV have any value?

I am writing this mail to just put not only my opinion out there but merely a fact. I’m going to talk about regular jobs here in Vryheid, nothing fancy just retail and other minimum wage jobs. What is a minimum requirement for a general retail job around Vryheid? Well this is my story. I am an out-spoken individual with tons of experience in sales, particularly retail. For the past seven years. I have been working in the big city of Johannesburg coming back home regularly with detailed CV’s searching for a vacancy closer to home with my experience. To my surprise not even one retailer considered me for a position. Now, this brings me to this very reason I write this email. Do Vryheid employers consider anyone’s CV or is it recommendation orientated? Well, I personally think the CV does not matter in Vryheid no matter how impressive it is. I have printed more CV’s than an average job seeker for the past seven years, trying to be considered for a position with lots of retailers in my home town, to no avail. I have been asking more people experiencing the same problem for the past four months, only to find out that I am not the only one. I am writing this piece not only to complain but to put more emphasis on the fact that not everyone goes to the big city because they want to, some of us don’t. Obviously these people who do will appreciate being considered at least for an interview in their home town. This is just a general concern from a regular job hunter who would really like to work closer to home for once in his life. You are appreciated just for reading this email. Thanks.
