Madam – The Hero of Newcastle
The social media was going crazy … A 12 year old boy was kidnapped from his parents’ house in Newcastle.
A very quiet Sunday afternoon turned into social media frenzy with the whole of Newcastle trying to assist the family to find their son.
The person who started the search was also the person who ended the search – your own reporter Kyle Cowan.
He wanted to find this boy back so badly that he put his own health and life in danger, because it was a 12-year-old boy with an adult man. Anything could have happened to this boy.
He ensured that everybody knew about this boy that was kidnapped. He stayed in contact with SAPS and on Sunday evening he himself went out with a member of the public to go out and look for this boy. Up until 2.30am in the morning, after discovering places in Newcastle that he thought he would never see, it was time to try to sleep.
He followed up all leads; he spoke to everybody to get more info on the boy. No SLEEP, NO EATING, his main goal was to find this boy.
He kept the public of Newcastle and the entire South Africa in the know on where the boy was spotted and what was happening.
On Wednesday morning, Newcastle was welcomed to the news , “The 12 year old boy is safe at his parents.”
Many stories will still be told, many lies will still be told, and many people will still be thanked – like the brilliant work of the SAPS and all the social media Samaritans who will
never be thanked personally.
But one HERO emerges from this kidnap – Kyle Cowan!
Kyle, we as a community salute you for who u are – A TRUE HERO. You will maybe never receive a medal, but be sure the thousands of people in Newcastle will always remember the week when a 12-year-old boy was kidnapped.
