Saddened by poor service delivery

I feel that the government of the day has failed our small community

Editor
I have been a resident of Estcourt for more than 35 years.
I have seen this town grow and fall and it seems to me like it is going through one of those ‘down’ stages now.
It is upsetting to see the amount of service delivery ‘fails’ in Estcourt and in Umtshezi as a whole.
There are still a number of people who don’t have running water, proper sanitation, there are still some areas where people cannot gain entry to their homes because the road is so terrible and there are still some areas where service delivery from local government is non existent and people rely on themselves and non-governmental organisations.
I feel that the government of the day has failed our small community.
They have started and failed at many projects, our town looks like a dumpsite, roads are dug up, potholes reign supreme, long grass is taking over some areas and yet even though we complain bitterly about all of this, they still sit with their arms folded and don’t take any notice.
When will we start seeing some tangible difference in town, so that we too can be proud to host visitors?
