Madam – DUMPING

It is with dismay that dumping around this town continues unabated. As with Kirkland Street open space (which would be easier to clean up), this area (as per photo) in Paddock Drive in ‘the Donga Slegspruit’ is a mess from builders rubble, kitchen rubbish to garden refuse.

The felling of trees and using this donga to dump is unacceptable. If everyone had this attitude and used this donga as their personal refuse dump, what an environmental mega-problem we would have, yet some seem to think they have a personal licence and are entitled to foul indiscriminately.

This has been reported to the municipality, Cllr. Cronje and the Ward committee, yet nothing has been done to stop those who transgress. PLEASE EVERYONE HAVE A LITTLE COURTESY FOR OTHERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT, after all it is your children’s future.

WE CARE

Response from Mayor, Afzul Rehman:

I agree, we have taken a decision at exco to tighten up on the by laws. Transgressors must be dealt with severely.
