Mr Mayor, I am complaining about the disturbance of peace at the show grounds on 16 December 2014 which carried on the whole night until Wednesday morning. Neither the SAPS nor Protection Services were prepared to take action as they say it was a concert and that the organizers have a permit until 6h00 am.
The show grounds is close to a residential area and the noise was unacceptable and a disturbance of peace. Why was a permit issued and why was permission granted till 06h00 am?
Cllr Rehman: I don’t believe there could be any such permit. We will investigate it.
The munic is doing great work to tar the roads in the townships but your work is let down by some people who are also in business. What’s your take with people who set up tents (for weekend functions)on tar roads by damaging the tar? This leaves with openings which lead to pot holes? One can’t challenge these people because it ends in fighting, but surely they must pay for the damages.
Cllr Rehman: This is illegal and I agree that the people should pay for damages. We are spending huge amounts on this infrastructure and it should not be vandalised. The community should be urged not to confront people but to rather report it to the municipality.
Att Mr Mayor. I would like to bring to your notice the street lights of Uranus Lane, Jupiter Lane and Aquarius Lane have been burning for more than 3 weeks 24 hours. I have phoned the Electrical dpt but the response people are too busy to take my report. So the receptionist took my complaint, how much longer. It has been pushed down our throats about load shedding.
Cllr Rehman: I will report it immediately. You should have contacted your Ward Councillor.
