Editor – The DA has learnt with horror that the picturesque town of Bergville was flooded with sewage running down the streets recently.
Attempts by the DA to contact the ANC uThukela District Municipality, telephonically, failed. Apparently, the staff were in a “management meeting”.
A very serious health risk existed in Bergville and the ANC will be held accountable for the health consequences for the residents of Bergville.
The DA has, on good authority, been informed that the ANC-run municipality cancelled the contract for the removal of sewage from septic tanks without putting a new contract in place. Instead of the uThukela Mayor concentrating on the vital aspect of service delivery, she seems to be more concerned about spending vast sums of money to get hundreds of people to attend an expensive ANC jamboree in the form of a “prayer” meeting.
The DA condemns this breakdown in service delivery. Yet another failure by an ANC administration.
