Have some fun in a crisis

I recently read a very informative and entertaining article about what you can do during load shedding, and I want to share some of it with my community:

Madam – The country is facing a crisis, and we all know the effects not having electricity can bring.

While some people get angry and frustrated and blame the government, my family and I have decided to make the best out of a bad situation. I recently read a very informative and entertaining article about what you can do during load shedding, and I want to share some of it with my community:

1. Eat ALL the ice cream! – Otherwise it will just melt in your freezer. If it’s already melted (with this heat, it might have) then just add some milkshake powder and have a yummy drink instead!

2. Learn to speak cat/dog – focus really hard on what your beloved pet is trying to tell you. This may come in handy later!

3. Learn how to braai – Phone someone (from your landline) and ask how. If you don’t have a landline and your cell phone is out of juice, knock on a neighbour’s door. You may even get a new friend out of it. Then have an impromptu braai and invite all your neighbours and friends.

4. Practise something new – Look at yourself in the mirror and practise saying ‘Hello’ in different accents and languages.

5. Sit outside and look at the stars – No bright lights to distract you in your quest of becoming one with the Universe.

6. Bath time – Use all the warm/hot water left in your geyser to have a nice, long bubble bath.

7. Board game – Dust off the Monopoly, light a few candles, and enjoy some good old-fashion family fun time!

8. Read a book – Many great thinkers and leaders studied under lamp posts or by the soft light of a candle.

9. Take a nap – You don’t need a reason to do this…

10. When all else fails – rearrange your wardrobe!

Let’s all be positive the next time we’re left in the dark!
