Through the medium of your newspaper I would like to vent my frustration and total dismay at the lack of interest by the owner of the residential piece of land, namely 82-First Avenue, Forderville in keeping his land neat and tidy. That vacant piece of land, which is situated between two homes, is an eye sore.
The grass is overgrown and has become infested with rodents and snakes, which are now entering the neighbouring houses and becoming both a health hazard and threat to the inhabitants. The extremely tall grass is convenient for criminal activities of all sorts to take place there, as has been the case and is perfect for criminals to hide there, again posing a threat to the innocent neighbours. On speaking to a few concerned people who live in the area. I was informed that many complaints have been lodged and appeals made to the owner but all of these were in vain.
Note the owner of that piece of “wasteland” does not have to put up with the unsavoury issues there as he lives in a well-kept property away from the area all together. I urge you to publish this in the Estcourt News with the hope that the owner develops a conscience and makes an effort to clean up his mess.
I don’t believe anybody living in close proximity to that “dump” condone the place. Something needs to be done. Maybe, just maybe the municipality can intervene and demand that he clean the place up for the sake of the rest of the tax payers whose lives are being put at risk everyday by an unkempt piece of land.
If he has no interest in it then he should sell it or better still donate it to some non-governmental organisation that will do justice to it. This is blatant disrespect for the very same community we are supposed to live in.
