Our country has definitely not gone to the dogs. If that were so, what a wonderful country we would have.
I could think of nothing better than always being happy to see one someone, constantly giving affection even if the day has been rough, still trusting someone despite being ill-treated or poorly fed, satisfied with limited or no attention and just happy to belong.
As Emmanual Kant said “ He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of man by his treatment of animals.” Never a more true statement has been spoken.
However, there may be dogs that do not fit into the above mould but remember who changed them. It was ‘man’. Yes! That two legged animal who calls himself ‘intelligent’. What a nasty piece of work he has become. Man needs to move forward without being selfish and thinking we reign supreme.
Maybe then we could consider ourselves as an intelligent species.
