Madam – As a long-time resident in Newcastle may I say I am disgusted with the shortcut thoroughfare in Hardwick Street Cemetery – my entire family were laid to rest there and it is a place of remembrance, not a place of desecration!

For shame!

My sympathy to the 17-year-old who was dragged into a cemetery only to be raped and threatened with a broken bottle while her lucky two friends got away. Maybe Siphiwe Mwalase had nothing to do except spending his time molesting a potential lovely young girl’s life.

My congratulations to SAP for apprehending him – you deserve a life sentence Siphiwe as you have destroyed a life.

May you, while locked up, consider just what you did. To end – to the 17-year-old girl – don’t despair because the good Lord is there and many people admire you for the courage it took for you to drag yourself back to life while you were left to die.

All the best, prayers are with you.
