Madam – It’s nice to see the town coming together to support each other instead of moaning and complaining all the time.
Last week, my dog went missing and I didn’t know what to do or who to turn to. The SPCA was my first call and they did not pick up my dog so we started searching the neighbourhood.
We are still not sure how she got out of the yard because she is a ‘huishond’ and only goes out when she needs to use the ‘bathroom’.
My family searched everywhere for Princess, who is a Maltese cross, but we could not find her. She has been with us for six years and was part of our family. We couldn’t stop thinking that something bad had happened and it was so cold.
When people in the neighbourhood found out about Princess they didn’t even ask questions, but just got involved in the search with us. We kept in contact while we kept searching. It was late by this time and we were close to giving up hope.
Heartsore and tired, we were turning around to go home when we got a call from a friend saying a dog like Princess had been spotted near the intersection in Barry Hertzog Park. We raced there and found her surrounded by members of the search, tired and hungry but safe.
Thank you to all those who helped us. Your good deeds and sacrifice will never go unnoticed. To all those pet owners who have animals that are missing still, don’t give up hope. Our animal loving community have you in their prayers.
