Disheartening behaviour by high school pupils

I have experienced fighting, swearing, racism and much more and it is very disheartening to see this from such young individuals

I was disgusted to read about the mother and daughter who were attacked by school pupils (Estcourt News – June 26 – page 2 – ‘Scholars attacked us‘).

Unfortunately this is not something new. I work in Victoria Street and have noticed rowdy school children misbehave almost daily. Thankfully now with the school holidays, it would be better.

Pupils from different high schools in Estcourt are guilty of bad behaviour and are not ashamed to display it in front of the public.

I have experienced fighting, swearing, racism and much more and it is very disheartening to see this from such young individuals.

Wearing a school uniform, in my day, meant that you wore it with pride but it seems like these days, it has no significance to the school pupils.

It is time that parents and schools stepped in to stop this shameful behaviour from our school children.

They are at a tender moment in life where they should be guided and any untoward behaviour should be stopped immediately.

They are also a reflection on our society, so some strict guidance should be administered.
