I am a resident of the Sbuyile area near Chieveley and would like to share the poor living conditions that the Sbuyile community are living in.
There aren’t any proper roads; the water which is delivered once after every three to four months is dirty.
There isn’t any electricity or sanitation, though the municipality always says they will assist, but nothing ever happens.
No municipal officials come by to have a look and attempt to better the current situation.
I find it more difficult now than before. Community members and cattle are forced to drink the filthy water being delivered.
We are living like slaves. Our children who attend Vukasekusile High School in Cornfields have to walk a four-hour distance to get to school and back.
I live with hope that soon members of our municipality including the Mayor can come see what our living conditions are like, and an Estcourt News journalist can come take photographs and publish them.
