Madam – Newcastle is a fine town to raise a family, however, our town is lacking in one major department.

We have far too little entertainment.

Bars, a cinema and shopping malls are all Newcastle really has. As much as I enjoy a good movie, a few social drinks with my friends and prowling the stores for the latest trends, it does become monotonous exceptionally fast.

What Newcastle needs is somewhere people can go to on a weekend or even during the week to escape the humdrum of reality.

How about creating something that people of all ages can do? Something friends and family can enjoy together?

How about building an ice skating rink, a bowling alley or anything else that can break the rut?

I am no sport enthusiast and I am sure there others like me, so joining the local soccer, cricket and rugby clubs is not going to happen soon. So let’s do something cool.

As Newcastle’s community grows, so does its desire for entertainment. Let’s not kill our social skills and let’s figure a way out of the dreariness that engulfs this town.
