Sir
You always know it is Dundee July time when the municipality finally starts sprucing up the scruffy town.
New lines are painted on the roads and even the fence on the Victoria Street Bridge, which has been broken for months, has been repaired.
What a pity that this passion does not last throughout the year.
Do the well-paid municipal officials and the Councillors, who are always quick to ask for our votes, ever drive around the area and look out for problems?
Or do they sit in their municipal offices with the aircons turned up on full heat? Well, it does not look like they do. Take a drive down Beaconsfield Street, towards Browning Street. What a state?
The street signs (those that have not been stolen) are bent, most of the houses are in a terrible state (okay I know that is not the municipality’s problem but don’t landlords receive letters warning them to clean up?) and everything just looks like no one cares.
What a pity!
I can’t see Dundee or Endumeni ever winning the Cleanest Town Award unless the Dundee July is held every month.
