What we thought was unscheduled load shedding turned out to be a much bigger problem. Dundee High School hostel was without electricity as from Friday night, July 24.
A cable fault occurred during the heavy rain experienced on Friday evening.
Kevin Donaldson, from Electrical Centre, assisted the hostel immediately and kept the staff informed of the progress at all times.
On Saturday, July 25, Mr Donaldson, together with Wessels Odendaal, James McCarthy, Reggie, and a team of four Municipal workers, worked throughout the day, digging to repair the cable. The damaged cable had to be replaced.
Early on Sunday morning these workers were once again hard at work with the repair/replacement of the damaged cable and at midnight Dundee High School Hostel was no longer in the dark.
A very special thank you to Kevin Donaldson and all the other workers who formed part of the “repair team” for the time sacrificed during a weekend and a job well done!
