Time to take back our town

One wonders how some of these places are operating when the licence holders are not even in these God forsaken places

Re: Ex-cop owns tavern without security
I, as an Estcourt resident, have to concur with Mr Trollip. We, as residents, have to take back this once beautiful town. How can it be that there are so many taverns opening all over the town?

What recommendation is the Liquor Officer who is stationed at the Estcourt Police Station, making to the Liquor Board when applications are made for licenses?

One wonders how some of these places are operating when the licence holders are not even in these God forsaken places. Last week there was a shooting incident at the Mary Lu Tavern (or should we say restaurant, because they are operating with a restaurant licence), another problematic place as the residents in the area can attest to. Perhaps we should ask the Public Protector to investigate the Estcourt Police Station, as nothing seems to be done by the police with issues regarding these taverns.

Fed Up Resident

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel TM Mabaso advises the writer to address these concerns with the Station Commander.
