Response Regarding the Provincial Hospital In Newcastle:
Dear Mayor, Your response in the paper was very blunt, with no possibility in even looking into this matter. If this does not fall in your jurisdiction as the Mayor of Newcastle then who is the right individual to direct this to? As the elected Mayor of Newcastle one would think that you would want to try to come to some kind of resolution for the residents of Newcastle.
My response was blunt because I responded on too many occasions that this function is not within my jurisdiction and I have engaged the Department of Health many times to reconsider their position. We are however in ongoing discussions with them, but I simply cannot be continuously blamed for their actions.
Hi, I would like to request a status on the old ISKOR Grounds? Myself and a few dedicated guys have founded an NPO named Highlands Cricket Club, affiliated with the NDCA. Our long term objectives are to further ALL sports in Newcastle, not only cricket. There are a number of teachers among our members, and a few of us who were sport stars at school level, and can recognise talent when we see it. We see talent every day in our schools. Talents who can become professionals one day. Thus we have decided to apply for duties of reopening the old ISKOR club and run it as an NPO. We would like to hear from you on how we can come to running the club and re-opening it to our communities again.
Warm regards, Jaco van Staden
Treasurer of Highlands
Cricket Club, and the NDCA
This facility belongs to Amajuba District Municipality and is currently the subject of a court case. You may, however, approach them with your request.
Mr Mayor, in a time where all citizens are asked to save electricity and safeguard against electricity wastage due to the challenges faced at Eskom. Why does your office allow the lights at the “new” municipality building and car parking lot to be switched on throughout the day and night? Surely there isn’t anyone working in construction during the night! This oversight is definitely costing the taxpayer to fit this unnecessary cost.
I know that our contractors are working late into the evening because they are facing penalties for late handover, but I do agree this needs to be kept in check. I will request the electricity department to intervene.
