Mr Mayor, in a time where all citizens are asked to save electricity and safeguard against electricity wastage due to the challenges faced at Eskom. Why does your office allow the lights at the “new” municipality building and car parking lot to be switched on throughout the day and night? Surely there isn’t anyone working in construction during the night! This oversight is definitely costing the taxpayer to fit this unnecessary cost.
I know that our contractors are working late into the evening because they are facing penalties for late handover, but I do agree this needs to be kept in check. I will request the electricity department to intervene.
Mr Mayor, I would like to thank you for continuous improvement to our loved Newcastle, great work indeed – I work in Gauteng currently and grew up in Naasfarm AKA Ramlani. there are major problem pertaining youth unemployment and skills shortage. We don’t see build up in corporate sector that could create jobs for us, is there a plan in progress to capture number of skilled persons to stay and grow our town’ economy rather than relocating to big cities? I thank you Sir. Simphiwe Sithole
Job creation is a painful and slow process. We currently have an intensive programme of business retention and expansion, and are talking to new investors while also trying to stimulate the economy with our own LED projects and infrastructure development.
Mr Mayor, there was an article in the advertiser this past week about how the park in arbor park has been vandalised and misused, my question is now why the security contract for night shift at the park in Crawford street was cancelled? Now people have access to the park in the evening and are making a hell of a racket during the evening. There is no supervision and I could hear a child crying last night. Is it safe for people to use the park at night? And it will most likely attract unwanted guests like prostitutes. I feel it will also compromise the safety of residents in the area perhaps causing a spike in criminal activities. Will this park also be destroyed? And one more thing, the park attracts many children, Crawford and Kemp streets have no speed humps nor pedestrian crossings. Isn’t this an accident waiting to happen as some drivers speed on these roads with total disregard to other road users.
I will ask the department to investigate these issues and reinstate security.
Municipal trucks dumped rubble in front of my property last year September. The Councillor, Ward representative and Municipal supervisor all came to see me and we inspected the site. They promised to send machines to flatten the ground, which is 500mm above the road surface, within a few days. That has not happened. Now rainwater floods my yard and if it rains, I have to hose my paving using precious and expensive scarce water, into the sewerage system. Please help as my last resort in this matter.
Please contact my office with your house address, I will deal with it.
