On Wednesday, September 30, a 70-year-old part time employee complained of chest pains and we discovered he was having a heart attack. We rushed him to Dr Erasmus who kindly stabilised him and called for the local ambulance to transport him to the local hospital.

I was rather hesitant for him to be taken to the hospital but he doesn’t have medical aid so he had no other option. Firstly, the ambulance was at the doctor’s rooms within 30 minutes of calling and the paramedics were very helpful. He arrived at the Casualty and was immediately seen by Dr Mhenni.

Assisted by Sister Thembi Khumalo, he received all the correct mediation pertaining to a heart attack as the doctor was in contact with a Cardiologist at Greys Hospital. After receiving treatment and wonderful care, he was transferred the Greys Hospital for further treatment.

I just want to thank Dr Mhenni and Sister Thembi Khumalo and their team for the treatment and care given to Malcolm. I am so happy to see improvements at our local hospital. There is hope for our little town.
