During the Christmas and New Year period there is an increase in festivities, parties, family gatherings, work functions and social events lined up. While it’s a great time to let your hair down and have some fun, it can also be a time of excess, especially when it comes to alcohol.

The festive season is a good time to reflect on our drinking culture and the way we drink. So how do you know when you’ve had enough; how much is too much when it comes to alcohol beverages during this period?

People who intend to drink responsibly find it difficult to stick to the plan because getting drunk is often an accepted norm, there is often social pressure to drink and the setting makes it easy to drink large amounts.

Not everyone chooses to drink alcohol. But if you do drink, stay at low risk of harm, you are also urged to drink in moderation if you choose to.

The Estcourt Alcoholics Anonymous Branch would like to thank its attendees for their continued support and would like to wish the community a safe, enjoyable and blessed festive season and a prosperous New Year.
