EFA’s and your skin

EFA's also boost the production of collagen in the skin, keeping it firmer and improving its texture

Dr Lalitha Badul

Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s) waterproof the skin, maintaining the protective barrier of the skin. The matrix of the skin determines how bouncy it is.

As we age, this matrix becomes thinner. No amount of topical treatments will cure this problem. The only way to thicken the matrix is by internally using the same type of material that the matrix had when we were young – EFA’s!

EFA’s also boost the production of collagen in the skin, keeping it firmer and improving its texture.
Studies have shown that EFA supplementation was more effective than medication alone in the treatment of psoriasis and eczema.

Other studies show that EFA’s significantly help to reduce acne inflammation.  A deficiency in these EFA’s can lead to a host of disorders. In the skin, typical symptoms include blackheads, whiteheads, inflamed skin or dry, oily or combination skin, scaly or flaky skin, bumps and premature ageing.

To ensure that you’re getting the right nutrition for your skin and body, it is recommended that you take a supplement containing all the EFA’s your body needs.
