Estcourt is going downhill fast

Estcourt is the economical hub for surrounding areas but who wants to come to a town that is filthy, stinking and full of potholes?

I have to applaud Concerned Resident who wrote the letter ‘What happened to our beautiful town’ (Estcourt News, June 10, page 6).

This letter hit the nail on the head. These are the questions and concerns that so many residents have. We just have to take a look around our town to see that this town is not progressing, it seems like everything is going downhill. Look at the roads, the water, the refuse removal, the stagnant projects and then look at the wealthy lifestyles of our councillors…

Driving fancy cars, owning expensive gadgets, going out for expensive meals and who is footing the bill? It makes one wonder if they care an ounce about the town after receiving so much of criticism from the locals who pay their salaries?

When will we start to see development in our town? Estcourt is the economical hub for surrounding areas but who wants to come to a town that is filthy, stinking and full of potholes?

Who wants to invest their money in a town that is crumbling day-by-day? Maybe this is why many people see Estcourt as a ghost town; there is hardly any good that happens here.

We get the new taxi rank and the councillors think this is something they should boast about…really? After years of this development being a white elephant and inconveniencing people, it is not a proud moment but a huge relief that this is finally complete.

We can only hope that once the Local Government Elections have come and gone, we will get people who are interested in the development of the TOWN and not THEMSELVES, this would be a dream come true for residents in Estcourt.
