Great work fighting crime in our town

“High Five” for these members for their efficient work, dedication and putting their community first

Editor – Allow me space in your newspaper to thank members of the community for exceptional work in aid of combating crime in their areas.

Within a couple of months, there have been Community Police Forum (CPF) groups in various areas within town. “High Five” for these members for their efficient work, dedication and putting their community first.

Despite bitterly-cold nights, there are patrolling teams in various sectors, roaming the streets. Not only thinking of their own area, members are in constant communication with neighbouring CPF groups.

If a suspicious-looking vehicle is parked in the middle of nowhere, the guys approach and investigate. This is not to cramp anybody’s style, but the CPFs wanting to combat crime. Not only can one have a peaceful night’s sleep, but service and delivery is being addressed and taken care of.

In the last couple of days, a simple thing such as streetlights not working in a number of streets was taken care of – well done!
One has to ask oneself the question: Is there really a need for lazy and unfit ward councillors? They are elected in the ward to take care of our needs and address our service and delivery issues. Clearly, they get paid a fat salary for nothing. Well, I am hoping by this statement that service and delivery doesn’t end in the various areas.

Like in any good situation, there has to be bad. One thing that comes to my mind is that CPF administrators on social media must monitor who is added on their groups. I mean, you don’t need people who are residing in the CBD / Egerton / Hospital Park area in a Rose Park / Leonardsville / Hillside group. Sad but true, we have people who are selfish and tend to think of themselves instead of others.

Whether it’s work-related or personal, it’s of no purpose having individuals not residing in the area in the group.

In a nutshell, a job well done and heartfelt appreciation to the CPF groups.
