Editor – I am a resident of Hillview and the number of potholes is enough to make any driver furious.
It has come to the point that the road is made up of potholes, with a few pieces of tar here and there. I am disappointed at the municipality for the lack of service delivery is this area. It is the size of my palm and all we ask for is a decent, smooth road that is not a road hazard.
Driving has become a risk because one never knows when a tyre will fall into a hole in the middle of the road, damaging the exhaust system, which costs a fortune to replace.
During the rainy season, it becomes more dangerous, as these very potholes are filled to the brim with water, making it difficult to see them, not to mention if it is dark.
This lack of service delivery is infuriating because we pay our rates and still the roads are in such a horrendous condition. What makes matters worse is that there are no signs of road expansion here in Ladysmith, but the population is growing by the day and the number of car owners is increasing just as dramatically.
It is completely ludicrous that one cannot find parking in Murchison Street, even more so if it is the end of the month and it falls on a Friday. Nothing is being done about the congestion. There are times when I want to leave my car in the road and quickly run to the store, because you’ll sit in traffic for hours at a time and there is no movement. Road expatiation (enlargement) is needed; I cannot stress that enough.
