Finding salvation within our own community

As a mother I try my best to teach my children to embrace the unknown, and tolerate people from all walks of life, regardless their race, religion or sexuality.

Madam – As a mother I try my best to teach my children to embrace the unknown, and tolerate people from all walks of life, regardless their race, religion or sexuality.

I teach them to respect, and love unconditionally. I teach them not to judge or discriminate others. And as a mother I teach them to appreciate what they have and share what others don’t.

As a Newcastle resident I have noticed that we have become somewhat a divided community. Gone are the days you’d invite your neighbour for cup of tee. We lock our doors, and look the other way when we see something we might not approve of.

I try to teach my children that this is not a way of living. Make friends with everyone around you, make your neighbour feel at home, and if you can learn more about their language, religion and ways of life.

I honestly believe that by teaching your child tolerance, it will create a better tomorrow for them, and hopefully they will get to experience a world where there is no hate, racism, terrorism or homophobia, but only love, peace and happiness.
