To the editor: Pokémon Go all the rage

What is happening to society that a game such as Pokemon has captivated so many people?

Madam,

Nothing irks me more than going around town and hearing about how Pokemon Go is all the rage.

Social media has been bombarded with posts about it, adults and teens are walking around town and searching for Pokemon. What is happening to society that a game such as Pokemon has captivated so many people?

I admit there are people who play it and are not controlled by it at all, there are those who are becoming addicted to it. An addiction can never be a good thing.

However, while I am not a fan of the game, it does have a plus side.

People who would otherwise be vegetating on their couches are now going outside and doing some form of exercise. No longer are their legs used solely for the purpose of going to the fridge for a snack and back to their favourite couch.

So, while I do not appreciate being forced to see Pokemon posts every five minutes on social media, I do like the way the game is making people actually go outside for a walk and socialise with other people.

Sincerely,

Pikachu
