Underground fire raises more questions

Records should be made available.

Madam – It is worrying that the farmer who lost his maize crop alleged that it was caused by spontaneous combustion.

I recall in the late 80s, the company that owned this property received a claim for fire damage as a result of allegations of negligence which could not be proven. The case went to court and was dismissed.

Was this fire allegedly also as a result of an underground fire as well?

We had gale force winds which aggravated the situation. I was the manager of the mining village and we were accused of stating the fire. What is the real truth? Can anybody guess?

The department of mines closed this mine a long time ago. Can some responsible person ask for a closure certificate which was issued? All records should be available if indeed this was done.
