Sir,
I was not at all surprised to read Mr Mseleku’s letter in a recent edition of your newspaper about non-existent responses to communications with the local Endumeni municipality.
On October 14, 2014, note 2014! six homeowners in the Ulundi Drive/Italeni Street area wrote to the Mayor complaining about the apparent industrialisation of the residential area in which we live. To date, there has been no response from the Mayor or his staff.
I have, in the interim, contacted the office of the Municipal Manager to be told on a number of occasions that the matter is being dealt with. At no time has the Municipal Manager given feedback and, in fact, I have failed in the last three weeks to elicit a response from him about this matter.
To the alarm of the local residents, it appears that there is free-for-all approach to town planning in Dundee, since new industrial ventures have recently been initiated in our residential area.
As a closing snide but relevant question: what do some of the Town Councillors get paid for?

These problems have been brought up on several occasions in our Ward 2 Ward Committee meetings. Unfortunately, we have made little progress in solving these issues as there appears to be a lack of political will to properly implement the by-laws which are in place.
The issues raised above remain of great concern and we hope that the officials tasked with ensuring by-laws are policed do their jobs accordingly as by-laws are there to protect our ratepayers.
Anthon Raubenheimer, Ward 2, Councillor.
