Madam – It is with sincere sadness we bid farewell to our beloved mayor, Afzul Rehman. Sir, you have been a true blessing to our town, and honestly, it’s a shame you will not be returning as mayor of Newcastle.
In my opinion, the next person is going to have very big shoes to fill, and I highly doubt he will do all you have done for our community.
You have helped so many people, brought most people joy and sacrificed so much of your own time to provide a service to the people.
If I think back to how Newcastle used to be, and where it is today, I cannot imagine how much worse it would have turned out if you were not around.
You have helped our town evolve into a city; a place of hope for all. The opportunities this town now offers are endless, and that’s thanks to your your hard work. We are recognised as a tourist attraction, which of course, is great for any Newcastle business owner.
However sad it may be to say good bye to you as our leader, I do wish you well in all future endeavours, and may God bless your road ahead.
