Horrified about the shocking death of two teenagers

What kind of hardships did these two youngsters face? Were their lives so bad that they would rather die than face another day?

Madam,

Over the past week, I was horrified to read about the death of two teenagers.

The first was the youngster who plunged to his death from a building in Scott Street, the second one jumping into a river and drowning.

What kind of hardships did these two youngsters face? Were their lives so bad that they would rather die than face another day?

I suppose this is a harsh reality of life, the fight against depression and facing one’s inner demons.

I cannot imagine what these children’s parents must be going through, but depression is horrible thing.

It gnaws away at your very soul, poisoning your mind and enhancing all the negativity you faced in your life.

Teenagers already have it bad, as they are forced to be adults so much younger than previous generations. Add the pressure of modern day society, a lack of decent role models and the high expectations of parents, I think these two children are among scores of others who felt they had nowhere to turn to, no one to talk to and express themselves to.

I pity children today; the loss of a child is a loss of innocence itself. With the horrible things we see on a daily basis, we cannot afford to lose any more innocence.
