No feedback after election

People are groping in the dark, asking questions concerning the promises, such as 'health hazard' or of the 'asbestos roofing'

Attention local council and municipality:
Concerning the outcome of our local government elections, which was in August, it is with great concern that we, the residents, of Forderville/Bangladesh, including Colita, are waiting impatiently to get feedback from council. Our community is lacking social information concerning the outcome.

The community at large should be informed via newsletters or the local newspaper. We, the public, have no knowledge or informative news as to what the outcome was.

People are groping in the dark, asking questions concerning the promises, such as ‘health hazard’ or of the ‘asbestos roofing’, ‘potholes’ being a danger to motorists and the avoidance of injuries to people. It has also become as issue concerning the ‘solar geyser system’ in our area, amongst poor people and mainly other issues pertaining to the community.

Let us, as humanitarians, take to heart, the plight of the poor. Questions include ‘the crime rate’ escalating in our area, ‘house break-ins’, ‘no visible policing or patrolling’, drug dealings, which are very visible, drug abusers, alcohol taking its toll on youngsters as well as stolen goods becoming available in the area – police need search warrants to operate.

Are the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer? Please! Please! We are appealing to our councillors, this is a new South Africa, let us not reverse into the apartheid era, where there was a lot of animosity, bitterness, hatred, jealousy and strife, including envy.

I appeal to our elected councillors to consider all the promises to be fulfilled, especially to the poor and needy. I quote in conclusion: “Let us live a better life for all. Let not our people die sadly without hope and prosperity. We will vote for a better community and a prosperous South Africa.”
