Civic Association concerned that Council not concentrating on real, burning issues

We are more concerned with the state of the revenue versus the expenditure - we must also enable and empower people to access Integrated Development Plan and budget of the council.

Sir
The Endumeni Civic Association has observed the two stories published in the Northern KwaZulu-Natal Courier regarding the first battles in the local Council chamber.
The first meeting dealt with deputy mayor brouhaha now all of the sudden we hear of a second tug of war in a form promoting the status of some public representative (Councillors) to full-time positions. The council is expected to take into account the feelings, fears and needs of the broader community in all decisions. The problems confronting the community include unemployment, poverty, nepotism, cronyism and corruption.
The people are more concerned about the extended public works programme workers. Some of these workers did not get paid for months because of delays. This action borders on human rights violation of all affected, scorned and despised workers and their families. The electricity tariff is completely exorbitant for all consumers and this is exacerbated by the dubious policy of staggering electricity tariffs.
The rates are also exorbitant for residents and businesses of greater Endumeni area. The council is the vehicle to prioritise burning matters of its broader community – the community must be active and organise in a quest to enhance accountable and effective local government. We are more concerned with the state of the revenue versus the expenditure – we must also enable and empower people to access Integrated Development Plan and budget of the council.
