Through the medium of the Estcourt News, I would like to express my disgust regarding the school children that go to the quiet end of Victoria Street to perform sexual acts. It is mainly high school learners from the three high schools within town.
I am aware that this is after school hours, but could the school kindly address this very serious issue with their learners? I just find it sad, rude and beyond disgusting; to name just a few.
It is very shameful to see young school-going children in school uniforms either sitting in the gutters smoking dagga, drinking or getting intimate; if not doing all at the same time.
Parents and guardians make sure you know your child/children’s whereabouts and who they share company with. As a concerned resident, I have on more than one account approached these children and asked them to go home and in turn get shocking rude responses.
Bear in mind that there are two churches, a primary school and a convent where nuns reside in this street, so if only you can imagine the lack of respect these children have.
It is really heart-breaking for me to see children making this area a lovers lane when these acts should not be in their interest, school should be their number one focus.
During exam periods, when the learners get sent home early to use the time to study, this is when the street is buzzing.I hope we can jointly figure out a solution to this matter.
