Inconsiderate drivers and pedestrians angers reader

I am simply frustrated by the lack of respect and consideration some pedestrians and motorists in our town display

This is an open letter to all the motorists and pedestrians in our town to think that the road rules do not apply to them.

I am simply frustrated by the lack of respect and consideration some pedestrians and motorists in our town display. They behave as if they are above the law with no concern for others. On a daily basis I see traffic, parking, driving and even walking violations.

These include vehicles racing through red robots, pedestrians crossing anywhere they like and opting to walk on the road instead of the pavement, even when it is not their right of way and vehicles (especially taxis) darting in front of other vehicles.

I have noticed that the taxi drivers are now resorting to using the oncoming lane to turn into the one way in Phillip Street, this is very dangerous but they don’t seem to care. It seems to me like these offenders have no fear for the law or no consideration for other road users.

This type of behaviour is everywhere; it is not just in town. Why aren’t our traffic officials out and about keeping an eye on these offences? I’m sure they could make up a lot of income from the traffic fines they issue in just one day.

Maybe it is time they get out of their cars and walk around to see exactly what is happening. Turning a blind eye will not help.
