Letter to motorist speeding on wrong-side of road

We were dumbfounded as to her reason for driving on the wrong side of the road, because there were no potholes, no other traffic and no stray animals seen anywhere.

Madam – On Sunday, October 2 at approximately 5pm my husband and I were returning home from a casual drive on the Normandien road.

We had just passed Babs scrapyard, when we literally stared death in the face. An Indian woman, driving what looked like a charcoal grey or navy blue SUV was speeding towards us on our side of the road.

My husband did not panic and he was travelling at 80km an hour; he just managed to flick his lights in those split seconds before her vehicle could plough into us.

We strongly believe that had it not been for the divine hand of our God who caused her to swerve just inches away from our car, we all could’ve been in a very horrific accident!

We were dumbfounded as to her reason for driving on the wrong side of the road, because there were no potholes, no other traffic and no stray animals seen anywhere.

I can only assume that she was chatting on her cellphone or her driving was seriously impaired for reasons unknown. We were obviously so shaken and she was driving so fast that we did not have time to see her registration number.

It’s because of negligent, careless, and irresponsible drivers like her that so many innocent, law-abiding citizens die or are seriously maimed daily on our roads!

If this person is perhaps reading this article, I implore you to desist from this dangerous behaviour and show some regard for human life. If you are tired of your life, or you enjoy playing this type of “game” try committing suicide by some other form, and all by yourself, where only you can be harmed or killed, and don’t play with the lives of others! Or you can admit you are mentally imbalanced, and seek some serious help promptly!

Again, we thank God for His protecting hand.
