Editor – Having read last week how a municipal official was gunned down in his driveway, I fear for us all. Can it really be that violence has finally reached our doorstep? I ask this because every week I read or hear another story about another gruesome act.
I ask: How long must people still live in fear? How long must we live in fear in our own homes? How long will we be paralysed by fear? You see, the common thread is fear – our collective or singular fear! But I say: Fear is the key. Fear of the Almighty should keep the sinners from killing on a whim.
Fear should shine a light on those who have pure goodness in them because they are not afraid. We are all sinners, make no mistake – no matter what your religion, there is a requirement to repent, ask for forgiveness and pray. These are the basic tenets of almost every faith known to man.
Why is it then that people can kill seemingly without fear? The truth of the matter is that they cannot, because good shall always triumph. This is an undeniable fact all with faith know.
So when it is darkest and people are the most fearful, that is when the light of the Almighty shines the brightest. That is when He calls you to prayer. So when others see doom and gloom, I see the work of the Almighty guiding His flock along the correct path to spiritual enlightenment.
Make no mistake, bad things will always happen, but never believe you are forsaken or forgotten. For when you are the most fearful, that is when He is with you, guiding you. No matter what or who you call ‘Him’, know He is there when you are most afraid. So if nothing else, fear should serve to embolden you.
