Hoax bomb threat brings CBD to a standstill…

No matter what your religion, we need to pray so that the Almighty can save us

Editor – We saw your live broadcasts on Facebook and read the online stories, and the reality of the world we now live in sunk in!

Are we no longer safe in our own town? Have the bombings and terrorism that have engulfed the rest of the world finally reached our doorstep?

Obviously, when it was announced that the bomb scare was a hoax and that police had not found any explosives in the court, I think the whole town breathed a sigh of relief.

But still a nagging doubt remains that was never there before. Maybe it is because of the taxi violence and the never-ending stream of people being killed in that regard.

Maybe it is that even our town’s leading figures somehow appear to be involved. Whatever it is, I no longer feel safe in our town.

I will admit that I admired the bravery of those Dog Unit officers who entered the court building.

Imagine going into a building when everyone else is running away? The question I keep asking myself is: Are we safe and what has happened to the small town I grew up in?

Is it really only a home to taxi warlords and gangsters. Are there still good people lurking somewhere under the veneer of all this violence? I am truly scared for the first time in my life about the future of our beloved town.

You do not read about such things in the Newcastle Advertiser, only in Ladysmith. We need to all act as one and together pray for our town. No matter what your religion, we need to pray so that the Almighty can save us!
