‘Dear President Zuma… please could you tell us how you are going to fix the country?’

You undermine the intellect of all South Africans, regardless of colour

Sir
This is my follow-up letter from last year to President Zuma. I like to keep it informal.
Dear Jacob

In my last letter to you, I was being diplomatic as a concerned taxpaying citizen, calling on your to resign as President of South Africa. In this letter, I will point out just a few flaws in the way you govern our beloved country. Mr Zuma, ever since you took office, you have been crippling our country’s economy. Then you further insult taxpayers by trying to defend your actions. As a President, I believe that is beyond the foundations of a democratic nation, bordering on plain tyranny.

Your short-sightedness is on the same level as FW de Klerk, Pik Botha, Roelf Meyer, Leon Wessels, Lynn Brown (Brian Molefe of Eskom), Bathabile Dlamini (of SASSA fame), Robert Mugabe, to name a few short-sighted comrades of yours. You lack any sort of planning for this country. You have no short, medium or long-term policies to create any jobs for the millions of unemployed citizens.

Our hardworking university graduates face a crisis of joblessness while you appoint your friends, who lack any sort of education, to key positions. Positions that can be given to people who are well versed in those fields, who are more than qualified to make this country grow.
But what else can we expect from someone like you? Birds of a feather flock together.

You undermine the intellect of all South Africans, regardless of colour. You do not respect the constitution. I wonder sometimes if you think you are invincible or a higher being? Your arrogance seems to forget that you are employed by the people of this country to make it a better place, not destroy it. I also highlight the fact that if leaders like Oliver Tambo, Chris Hani, Steve Biko or Walter Sisulu were able to take office, I believe they would have steered South Africa to a brighter future.

Idiotic plans such as giving people land, without any plans to help them cultivate the land, is one of the things I doubt they would have suggested. From my side, I pledge that I shall (with the help of the Trade Unions) create permanent and sustainable jobs in South Africa. The land will be distributed accordingly, starting with the previously named homelands: eg: Kwa-Zulu, Transkei, Ciskei and Venda etc. Agricultural land used to produce food (not farm people) to feed the nation and to export to other countries will not be touched. Only those who produce products from the soil shall be allowed to farm commercially. With that said, I look forward to your retirement.
