In response to Mr Ramdeen’s letter ‘Neglected sewer leak plagues residences’.
READ THE LETTER HERE: Neglected sewer leak plagues residences
Our plumber and engineers visited the relevant address on Thursday morning. One of our plumbers has proof that he attended to the clearing of a sewer blockage at this address two months ago.
However, the said area is an on-going problematic area. All of the residents of the houses in this area treat the land behind their properties as a municipal dump site where they dispose of all of their household refuse.
To add to the problem, people steal or demolish manhole covers, which allows the abovementioned ‘dump site material’ to fall into the manholes causing blockages.
Other people deliberately throw bottles and other ‘stuff’ into the manholes, thereby causing blockages.
When our plumbers are called out to attend to blockages in this area they have to remove piles of bottles and other ‘rubbish’ from the manholes and sewer line. We urge people to desist from such misbehaviour so we can move forward.
