Madam – Pedestrians vs vehicle drivers.
It astonishes me every afternoon after leaving from work that pedestrians just don’t give a damn about vehicle drivers also using the road. They will cross at the robots when the traffic lights are not green for them, then they bring you to a total standstill and then accidents happen.
The most common areas is Allen and Murchison crossing, however, the whole street is crawling with pedestrians crossing the road, and just not acknowledging the vehicles.
Pedestrians without knowledge of road use must stay of it and walk on the sidewalk up to the traffic control system and cross there when the green man indicates that it is safe to do so.
Adults know this law, but they don’t abide by it. How can you teach your children to be safe when using the streets, when they are not following rules? Accidents happen so often these days, it is not a laughing matter and are considered relevant to all parties involved.
Wear your safety belt, follow the safe distance when travelling, and cross when the traffic regulatory system is in your favour. Don’t take chances for it may be the last chance you ever took. Don’t aggravate drivers for they must think in advance for your stupidity and then it might be too late.
I think traffic officers need to be allocated on the most critical areas in town and look what danger pedestrians put drivers in. You will be surprised and astonished. And that note, I wonder if a traffic
officer can write a ticket for pedestrians not following the rules of crossing a street, it will be interesting to know!
