LETTER: Life is too short to live in regret; smile and wave

We are very quick to get road rage because of that guy ahead of us who keeps on hitting the brakes for no apparent reason, or we argue with our siblings about who gets to control the television remote.

Madam – Life can be so serious at times.

We live our lives as if they are seasons in a year. We are born. We grow. We live. We pass on. But what happens in between?

We are very quick to get road rage because of that guy ahead of us who keeps on hitting the brakes for no apparent reason, or we argue with our siblings about who gets to control the television remote.

Before we can wipe the sleep from our eyes, life has moved on and another loved one has passed away, or we read in the newspaper about an old school friend who has died tragically and suddenly we feel regret. Regret that we didn’t make some time to just send a “How are you?” message on Facebook. Now it’s too late.

A smile is priceless too, it won’t ruin your day if you make the effort to let the next person feel noticed and appreciated.

Say “thank you” to the guy who fills your petrol tank or the lady who takes your order at a fast food outlet.. It doesn’t cost a thing to be polite.

When the guy in front of you keeps on hitting the brakes, calm down, count to ten, smile and wave as you pass him, he may be having a problem with his car. Life is too short to hold a grudge. Make peace. Smile at everybody and love to the fullest extent. You never know what tomorrow may bring.
