Triple-negative breast cancer survivor shares her strength

So with courage, strength, love and faith you can fight a good fight

I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) in February 2016. A mastectomy was done on the left in March 2016.

It all started with a small lump that looked like it was simply nothing but it was actually the starting point of my world being turned around and dark moments approaching.

I felt as if it was nothing, but it turned out to be cancer. I had to go through surgery and chemotherapy. After my diagnosis, it was all about strength, courage and faith.

And that is what brought me out as a survivor. Early detection was important for me and is important for all breast cancer patients. I am TNBC survivor. This kind of cancer does not respond to hormonal therapy. I didn’t have to go for radiation because all breast cancers have different treatment plans.

Friends, family and support groups at the hospital helped me cope and be strong. Talking about it helped me know that I am not alone and that I am loved. So all I have to say is that I am feeling well, I do have days where I experience lots of pain but I always ‘Get up, get dressed and show up.’ I’m back at work, which boosts my confidence.

It means I’m fighting the fight with strength and I’m winning with faith in God and God’s mercy brought me through this. So with courage, strength, love and faith you can fight a good fight.
