Madam – The festive season draws ever closer, bringing with it a sense of festivity.

However, Santa Claus does not always come with presents and gleeful joy. Sometimes, he brings heartache and misery.

During the festive season, people tend to take their safety for granted, showing almost total disregard to their well-being. While it is important to enjoy your live to the fullest, lets not forget that we are not immortal.

Be sure to avoid drinking an driving. I might sound like an old nagging woman, but imagine the grief your family and friends would go through if you were to die tonight? Would your children and pets understand why you never came home?

Or else, what if you were intoxicated and got involved in a collision, but you lived and someone else died because of you. Could you live with yourself, knowing you accidentally killed someone because you were irresponsible? Could you live knowing you took away someone’s daughter or son’s life?

Also, let us not forget about common safety when around town. As the community prepares for the holiday season, the roads are bound to be busier as people are shopping. Avoid jaywalking, use your indicators and drive carefully.

You do not want to be another road collision statistic for Christmas.

Avoid flashing money and jewellery around town. Your life is more important than wealth and flashy jewels.

Let’s not forget the most important thing this festive season is life, be sure to stay safe.
